A LADY THAT WE KNOW

A lady that we know came for a visit, as she sometimes does, and she said to me, you should write more blogs.  You’ll lose your audience if you don’t.

I said to her, oh well.  Not a big loss.  When we were knocking around Canada, some folks back home were interested, so there was a reason for writing them.  Now, there’s not.  Nobody cares about my thoughts.  I don’t particularly like them myself.

No, she said.  I want to read your thoughts.

So I am going to write some more stuff just for that lady.  Audience of one, and if anyone else wants to, they can read them too.  I might even stick some pictures in.  It is fun to write stuff for sure, but is it not horribly presumptuous to think that the world needs to hear about you or your thoughts?  Isn’t that a contagion in these social media times?  We all want to bray, it seems. We all want a soap box.  A “platform”.

Notwithstanding, writing is fun, and it does demand some kind of mental cohesion.  You have to organize your thoughts when you write, which has to be good for you.  Might help stave off dementia.

In that spirit, I will just note for now that the snow has melted off in Victoria.  It came and went in about five days, with three or four days of relatively cold weather to start.  That’s about a week and a half of winter, which suits me just fine.  I always feel cheerful at the first snowfall of the season, and I also feel cheerful at spring breakup.  Here, they both happen within a week or two.  Now we can look forward to spring, which can’t be far away.  Flowers and all of that.

I could also note that it is Sunday today and we went to church, but the aforementioned lady is not a big fan of church (as I understand), so I won’t get into that too much.  Don’t want to lose my only reader.

Or maybe if I talk about the weather and not about anything of substance, she won’t read it anyway.  We’ll see how that goes.

Take care.  Make a comment for pete sake.  Get ready for Monday.

Haha I have missed your unique self deprecating humour! But I’m wondering am I “that lady”? 😛

Hi Jan

No, but you could be. Henceforth, I will include you in a composite "lady" in my mind when (and if) I write stuff. An aggregate Sophia, as it were. Our Writing Lady (OWL) for short.
